Best fried shrimp in the Midwest area. To put it into perspective I drive all the way from downtown Chicago & paid two tolls. I'm from the area so I grew up on the stuff. I remember coming into town years ago & stopping here before I stopped at my parents place. The shrimp by itself is extremely tasteless however the marriage of the sweet/tangy cocktail sauce is where the magic lies. The place is expensive, the hours can be a pain & they randomly run out of things such as the fried okra but you'd be extremely hard pressed to find a better fried shrimp establishment. I'll give you a jewel to conclude my review k that is that seafood junction on the border of merrillville on broadway has to be a sister restaurant.
This place should be called Bob's Scrumptiousness! Whoever Bob is, he knows shrimp. He knows not to over bread them and fry them hard as a rock -- (IYKYK) I had been skeptical because of the mixed reviews. As I watched people pile in on a Saturday evening, my skepticism decreased. The women at the register were cordial and my food came out fast. There is one bench for waiting but no seating inside as this is take out only. The interior was clean and well lit. Only cash is accepted but there is an ATM in the parking lot. I ordered a pound of both extra large shrimp and spicy catfish. I picked three of the sauce options; mild cocktail, tartar and spicy garlic. The shrimp were fried to perfection and well seasoned. The spicy catfish was delicious and it was actually catfish -- not that clickbait swai fish junk. I'll be dragging my husband here often.
